In a society in which being a grown-up and taking on grown-up responsibilities are increasingly denigrated, Diana West wrote The Death of the Grown-Up - subtitled, How America's Arrested Development is Bringing Down Western Civilization (2008).

In a society in which capitalism is generally denigrated and socialism extolled, Diana West wrote American Betrayal, her magnum opus, subtitled The Secret Assault on Our Nation's Character (2013). In it, she meticulously details the massive extent of Communist infiltration, intent on the destruction of America. She was attacked viciously by many of those supposedly against Communism.

How did Diana come to be so outspoken, and so out of step with her time? She has, in many ways, followed in her family's footsteps. She came from an unusual family - a conservative family living in Hollywood.
